I am Charlene Tardif, member of Effective Ergonomics. I have over 15 years of office ergonomic experience, helping managers and employees indentify risk factors in their workplace and implement change to avoid work-related injuries.

  • Over 10 years of acute care and clinical nursing for adults and infants
  • Utilization review nurse, Managed Disability Case Manager and Well Baby program associate, enhancing client access to appropriate and adequate health care and disability plan features.

Responsibilities included; proactive educational programs and presentations; individual employee assessment, education, planning and implementation of change to address identified ergonomic risk factors both in office and teleworking home workstations; consultation services to support departments such as Disability Services and Americans with Disabilities Act. Participating on project teams with various departments, providing consulting services where changes were being considered that have potential to affect occupational safety and health of employees on a larger scale [e.g. workstation furniture, configuration, computer equipment (i.e. monitors, keyboards and other input devices, applications to enhance accessibility by physically, visually or otherwise challenged workers, etc.), etc].
  • Expert review of Workers' Compensation claims, assessment for ergonomic risk factors and intervention, working with the doctor, management and the claimant to affect a safe and appropriate return to work. Interventions were applied to avoid lost work days and where that was not possible, then to affect an earlier return to work resulting in fewer lost days.
